Architectural concrete throughout a Toorak residence — five pieces internally and externally, plus two driveways, delivered as a single scope.
The brief
A contract picked up mid-build
The architectural concrete had originally gone to a contractor whose usual work is polished floors. Partway through, it was not going the way it needed to, and the full architectural scope was reassigned to Arris².
Before the award there was a site meeting with four people asking questions — about heights, positions, grid lines, finishes and sequencing. Answering those on the spot, on site, is what the decision turned on.
The making
Formwork, steel, pour, finish
Each piece was set out against grid lines and checked before every pour. On a job with five separate pieces and two driveways, the sequencing matters as much as any single element.
The detail
One scope, one point of accountability
Split this work across trades and the gaps between them become the client's problem. Held as one scope, the interfaces are somebody's job — and pre-pour checks catch things while they are still cheap to fix.
